Periplous is a community of travellers sharing experiences, tips and inspiration. To keep it a welcoming and safe space for everyone, please follow these guidelines. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or a permanent ban.
Treat every member of the community with respect. Disagreements are fine — personal attacks, insults, and harassment are not. Do not target individuals based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other characteristic.
Post genuine travel stories, photos, reviews and itineraries. Do not post fake reviews, misleading content, or copy other people's work without attribution. Only share photos you took yourself or have rights to use.
Do not post repetitive messages, unsolicited advertisements, affiliate links, or promotional content. Mentioning a business you visited as part of a genuine travel story is fine — outright advertising is not.
Do not post content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity, depicts graphic violence, contains nudity or sexual content, or could endanger you or others. This includes content that glorifies dangerous behaviour during travel.
Content that promotes hatred, discrimination, or violence against any group of people is strictly prohibited and will be removed immediately.
Do not share other people's personal information without their consent — including phone numbers, addresses, or financial details. Do not post photos of people without their knowledge in sensitive or private situations.
Do not deliberately spread false information about destinations, safety, visas, or travel conditions. If you are not sure about something, say so. Misleading safety advice can put other travellers at risk.
Periplous celebrates global travel. Please be respectful of local customs, traditions, and people in the places you visit and write about. Avoid cultural stereotypes or condescending language.
If you see content that violates these guidelines, use the report button (the ••• menu on any post) to flag it. Our moderation team reviews all reports. We may remove content, issue warnings, or ban accounts depending on the severity of the violation.
Violations of these guidelines may result in: a warning, content removal, temporary suspension of your account, or a permanent ban. Severe violations (e.g. illegal content, doxxing, threats) will result in an immediate permanent ban and may be reported to relevant authorities.
